Leon David Black, born in 1951, is a United States entrepreneur and financial manager, with expertise on private equity and leveraged buyouts. Black is a son of a well-known business man, Eli M. Black, who operated the United Brands Company (currently known as Chiquita Brands International Inc). He owns 50% of the private equity business called Apollo Management LP, a worldwide asset manager, which he cofounded in 1990. Black likewise established Apollo Advisors and Lion Advisors LP, which administers investment capital on behalf of a team of institutional shareholders. Prior to Apollo Management, he worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert, an investment bank that formerly made revolutionary tools for corporate finance.
